• International association "The Leading Hotels of the World" was founded 1928 by a few European top hoteliers.
• The organization comprises only the best hotels and resorts worldwide which the Carlsbad Plaza joined in 2007.
• Only about 450 members in 80 countries in the world.
• More than 1.500 different standards must be fulfilled in order to be accepted.
• In 2007 only 52 hotels out of 1.500 candidates have been accepted as a member.

• The Carlsbad Plaza joined prestigious Hotels like e.g. the Ritz in Paris, the Sacher in Vienna, Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, the New York Palace etc.

The Hotel Carlsbad Plaza is very proud of being a member of The Leading Hotels of the World – the most prestigious and luxurious hotel organization.
To date LHW has nearly 450 members comprising only the best hotels and resorts worldwide. The company was established already in 1928 by a  group of influential and progressive European hoteliers. They recognized the importance of establishing direct contact with the traveling public and travel agencies in the North American market.

The organization never addresses new members, but the hotel itself must ask for the admission at LHW, and the first condition is that every applicant must be recognized officially as a 5* hotel. According to requirements for applicants, every applying hotel must fulfill more than 1,500 criterias at all levels affecting the comfort, convenience and well being of a guest.

Only very few hotels selected amongst hundreds of applications (for example only 52 hotels of over 1,500 applications last year) are chosen and must undergo a tough admission process, including a  comprehensive anonymous inspection. After successful fulfillment of all thorough inspections and control processes, only the best hotels may be incorporated. LHW member hotels are regularly examined anonymously by LHW inspectors so that the strict compliance of excellent quality and all determined standards can be ensured. The Leading Hotels of the World organization publishes once a year a list of all members, which our guests will find in their rooms.
